A graduate of the 2-year Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader training, Cory also has several years of extensive professional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), completed certification with Mindful Schools and the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, and has trained in Mindfulness-Based Inquiry, Breathworks Chronic Pain with Vidyamala Burch, the Trauma Institute led by Bessel Van der Kolk, and a relational meditation practice called “circling” through Circling Europe. He is a 200-hour hatha yoga teacher, certified NLP & Eriksonian Hypnosis practitioner, and an Integrative Health Coach through Duke Integrative Medicine.
In 2012, Cory spent 6 months in silence, practicing Vipassana meditation 14-20 hours each day, ordained as a monk under the late Sayadaw U Pandita within the Mahasi lineage of the Theravada tradition. He now aims to bring the teachings of mindfulness to people in practical and usable ways, presenting to organizations, schools, and the general public. He has offered keynotes and workshops to companies like Bank of America, VMWare, Travelers Insurance, Prudential, Johnson & Johnson, Colgate, and others; he has been featured on Business Insider, Huffington Post, Thrive Global, and Martha Stewart Living; and he is Co-founder of the Mindfulness.com platform, as well as a contributing teacher to the apps Simple Habit, Asana Rebel, 10% Happier, and Grokker.
